Alright, let’s talk about this tennis match, you know, the one with Kerber and that Kudermetova girl. I saw it on the TV the other day, well, parts of it anyways. Too much running around for my taste, but the young’uns seem to like it.
So, this Kerber, she’s been around a while, I reckon. Seen her face on the TV before. She’s tough, like an old hen, you know? Doesn’t give up easy. She hits that ball hard, makes a real thumpin’ sound. Reminds me of my Harold beatin’ carpets back in the day, haha.
Now, this Kudermetova, she’s a bit younger, I think. Moves quicker, like a squirrel on a hot tin roof. She’s got a good serve, too, real whippy-like. My grandson, he plays tennis sometimes, he tries to do that whippy serve, ends up hittin’ the fence most of the time, bless his heart.
- They played in Rome, that fancy place in Italy.
- And somewhere in America too, Indian Wells, they called it. Sounded hot.
The first match I saw, or part of it, Kerber won. Took her two sets, 6-4 and 7-5, they said. That Kudermetova girl put up a good fight, though. Didn’t make it easy for Kerber. Lots of back and forth, like two cats squabblin’ over a fish head.
Then they played again, in Rome this time. I didn’t see much of that one, too busy makin’ supper. But I heard on the radio they were playin’. They said you could watch it online, but I don’t know how to do all that computer stuff. Too complicated for an old lady like me. My daughter tries to show me, but I just get confused.
Anyway, from what I gathered, they said Kudermetova is from Russia. And she’s got a sister who plays tennis too, and her husband’s a tennis player! Imagine that, a whole family of tennis players. Must be a lot of racket swingin’ going on in that house.
It’s funny, you know, watching these young women hittin’ that ball. Reminds me of when I was young, though we didn’t have tennis back then. We played hopscotch and jump rope. Simpler times, I guess. But these girls, they’re strong and determined. Gotta admire that, even if I don’t understand all the rules.
People were sayin’ you could watch the matches on somethin’ called Prime Video or DAZN, or even for free on bet365 if you had some money in your account. Sounded complicated. I just stuck with the TV, when I could catch it. And I’m pretty sure it was also on something called WTA TV, but you had to pay for that one.
So, Kerber won one, and I don’t know about the other, to be honest. They both seemed pretty good to me. Hit that ball hard, run around a lot. More power to ‘em, I say. I’ll stick to watchin’ from my armchair, thank you very much. Too much excitement for these old bones.
In the end, it’s just a game, right? They hit a ball, they run around, someone wins, someone loses. Life goes on. But it’s nice to watch somethin’ different sometimes, even if I don’t understand all the fancy rules and the scoring. As long as they’re havin’ fun, that’s all that matters, I reckon.
So yeah, Kerber and Kudermetova. Two gals hittin’ a ball. Good for them. Now, where’s my tea?
