Well now, lemme tell ya somethin’ about this fella, Jung Hoo Lee, and that there video game, MLB The Show 23. Folks keep talkin’ ’bout him, so I figured I’d poke around and see what all the fuss is about. Don’t know much ’bout these fancy computer games, but I can tell ya a thing or two ’bout baseball players.
First off, they say this Jung Hoo Lee fella is a real big deal. Plays outfield for them San Francisco Giants, see? He’s from South Korea, which is a far piece away, I reckon. They got baseball over there too, who knew? This boy, he ain’t no spring chicken no more, born way back in 1998. But they say he’s pretty good at hittin’ that ball.
Now, in this MLB The Show 23 game, they give these fellas numbers, see? Like, how good they are at hittin’, runnin’, and catchin’. They call ’em “attributes” and “quirks.” Sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me, but I guess it matters to them young’uns playin’ the game. They even got somethin’ called “True Overall” and “Meta Overall.” Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo.
From what I gather, they got different versions of this Jung Hoo Lee fella in the game. There’s the “World Baseball Classic” version from 2023, and then a “Live” version in the 2024 game. So, they keep updatin’ the game, I guess. Makes sense, players get better or worse, just like in real life.
This here Jung Hoo Lee fella, he can really hit that ball. They say he never slugged below .417 back in Korea, whatever that means. And in 2022, he hit a whole bunch of doubles, triples, and them home runs. Sounds like he was a real firecracker! But wouldn’t you know it, he had to go and get surgery on his shoulder. Poor fella. They say he’ll be out for at least six months. That’s a long time to be sittin’ on the sidelines.
- They got all sorts of numbers for this fella in the game.
- Stuff like hittin’ power, speed, and how good he is at catchin’ the ball.
- And they even got somethin’ called “Fielding Run Value,” which is supposed to tell ya how many outs he saves compared to other players. Like I said, a bunch of mumbo jumbo.
But I guess it’s important to them folks who play this game. They wanna know who the best players are, so they can win, I reckon. And this Jung Hoo Lee, he seems to be a pretty good one, at least when he ain’t hurtin’. They got him on the Arizona team roster and Texas team roster too. Seems like this young man is quite popular!
Now, I don’t know nothin’ ’bout this game bein’ an “Officially Licensed Product of MLB Players, Inc.” But I reckon it means they got the okay to use these players’ names and likenesses. Otherwise, them players might get their feathers ruffled, see? It’s all about money these days, ain’t it?
So, there ya have it. That’s all I know ’bout this Jung Hoo Lee and MLB The Show 23. He’s a good baseball player, they say. He’s in a video game. And he got hurt. That’s about the long and short of it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go tend to my chickens.
