Well, I heard some news about them Hornets boys, and let me tell ya, it ain’t the kinda thing ya want to hear. Seems like one of their players, Miles Bridges, done got himself in trouble again. Now, ya know, I ain’t no expert in basketball, but I do know a thing or two ’bout folks making mistakes, and Miles sure done made one big one.
It all started back in June 2022, when this young fella got himself arrested for some serious charges. Now, they say he got into some real bad business with a domestic violence case, which ain’t something anyone should be messing with. But it wasn’t the end of it. This year, just a little while ago, Miles went and turned himself into the sheriff’s office down in Lincoln County, North Carolina, after an arrest warrant was put out for him. Boy, that ain’t something you do lightly, you know?
He’s 25 years old, but sometimes it seems like age don’t matter when you’re messing up your life. He went ahead and pled no contest to the charges, meaning he didn’t fight the case but didn’t exactly admit guilt neither. That got him three years of probation, but thank the Lord, no jail time. Well, at least not for now, that is.
Now, I don’t know about y’all, but three years on probation sounds like a lotta time to think about things, especially for someone who’s supposed to be out there on the court playing for his team. And that’s where it gets a bit murky. You see, the NBA stepped in too, and they gave him a suspension in April, which kept him from playing with the Hornets. Now, I reckon that hurt him more than any punishment could, ’cause I hear he’s mighty proud of playing for them Hornets.
But here’s where it gets a little brighter, I suppose. Miles did come out and apologize for all the trouble he caused, saying he was sorry for the pain and embarrassment he put his family and the team through. And look, I don’t know if that apology’s enough, but it sure shows he knows what he did ain’t right. In this life, we all make mistakes, but the trick is learning from them. And maybe, just maybe, Miles can do better from here on out.
Well, after all that mess, he’s back on the team, but it’s not all smooth sailing. Miles is coming back on a 1-year deal for the 2023-24 season. I reckon the Hornets are giving him a chance, but they sure are taking a risk too. If you ask me, it’s gonna take a lot of work to get his reputation back up. But that’s a heavy burden, and only time will tell if he can carry it.
But there’s still a lot of talk about the Hornets, even with all this drama. People been saying that the team don’t have enough depth, and that’s a problem. They’ve got some good young players like LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller, but if any of them get hurt, things could go south real quick. Now, I don’t know much about basketball strategies, but I do know that if you don’t have enough good folks on the bench, you might be in trouble.
And speaking of things getting more serious, did you hear? The old man Michael Jordan done gone and increased his stake in the Hornets from 80 percent to 89.5 percent. Now, that’s a big jump, but what’s it mean? I ain’t sure, but it sure shows he’s all in for his team. Maybe he’s trying to get ‘em back to where they used to be, I don’t know.
So there you have it, folks. A whole lotta trouble with Miles Bridges, but also some chances for redemption. The Hornets are trying to rebuild, and they’re gonna need all the luck they can get if they wanna be a real contender. Let’s hope Miles learned his lesson and plays better, both on and off the court. For his sake and the team’s too.
