Alright, let me tell you how I ended up getting this DK Metcalf autograph. It wasn’t exactly rocket science, but it took a bit of legwork, you know?

Finding Out About It
So, I was just scrolling online, probably looking at game highlights or something, and I saw an ad. A local sports memorabilia shop was hosting a signing event. And guess who? DK Metcalf. Now, I’m a Seahawks fan, have been for ages, and DK, well, he’s something else. I thought, “Okay, I gotta try for this.”
Getting Prepared
First thing, I checked the details. You know, the usual stuff:
- Where exactly was this shop?
- What time did it start?
- How much was it gonna cost me? Autographs ain’t always free, especially for big names.
- What could you get signed? Sometimes they’re picky, like only flats or only official merch.
Turned out it was pretty straightforward. There was a fee per autograph, standard stuff. They allowed photos, mini helmets, jerseys, the usual. I spent a bit thinking about what I wanted signed. A jersey felt like a big commitment, and expensive. A mini helmet? Nah. I settled on getting a really nice 8×10 photo. Found a great action shot online and got it printed up proper at the photo place down the street. Made sure it was glossy, looks better signed.
Then, the pen. This is actually important. You don’t want some cheap ballpoint. I grabbed a couple of blue Sharpies. Always good to have a backup, right? Heard blue shows up nice on photos and is less likely to fade than black sometimes. Always be prepared, that’s my motto for this stuff.
Last bit of prep was figuring out the timing. These things get crowded. The ad said it started at 1 PM. No way I was showing up at 1 PM. I decided I’d get there around 10 AM, maybe even earlier. Better safe than sorry.

The Big Day – Getting the Signature
Showed up at the shop, maybe 9:45 AM? And yeah, there was already a line. Not huge yet, but definitely forming. Found my spot, brought a bottle of water. Good thing I did, ’cause we waited. Stood there, chatted with a few other folks in line. Mostly Seahawks fans, couple of collectors. Everyone was pretty excited.
Time ticked by. Eventually, they started letting people in, processing the payments, keeping the line moving. It wasn’t super fast, but it was organized, I’ll give them that. When my turn came, I paid the fee, got my little ticket thingy.
Then you kind of snake through another line inside. Finally, I could see him up at the table. He looked bigger in person, honestly. When it was my turn, I just walked up, put the photo down, handed him the Sharpie (uncapped, ready to go – pro tip!). He didn’t say much, just took the pen, signed the photo – quick scribble, pretty standard athlete signature. He passed it back, attendant moved me along. It was super quick, like maybe 10 seconds in front of him total.
Done Deal
And that was it. I stepped away from the table, looked down at the photo. Yep, there it was. DK Metcalf’s signature right on there. Felt pretty good. Carefully slid the photo back into the protective plastic sleeve I brought. Didn’t want to smudge it!
Walked out of the shop, feeling pretty satisfied. Went home, and first thing I did was put that photo in a nice sturdy top-loader. Eventually, I’ll probably get it framed up proper. For now, it’s safe and sound. So yeah, that’s the story. Bit of planning, bit of waiting, but ended up with a cool piece for the collection.
