My Look into Jason Day’s Gear
So, I was watching some golf the other day, you know, just following the coverage. Jason Day was playing, and something about his shots caught my eye. He hits the ball pretty high, always has, but there seemed to be a real control there, especially with the irons and around the greens.

It got me thinking, what’s he actually using these days? Sometimes these pros switch things up. I decided to look into it a bit, just out of curiosity. It’s interesting to see what choices these top guys make.
First thing I checked was the golf ball. Turns out he’s sticking with the Bridgestone TOUR B X. I remember reading somewhere that he got interested because he saw Tiger hitting some crazy spinny shots with a Bridgestone ball. Makes sense. Even though Day hits it high, he probably wants that reliable control and maybe not too much spin off the tee, but enough around the greens. That ball seems to fit the bill for him.
Then I looked at his irons. He’s gaming Srixon irons now, which is a bit of a change if you followed him years ago. But the really specific thing I found was about the shafts he puts in them. He’s using those True Temper Dynamic Gold X7 shafts. Now, for anyone who knows shafts, those things are seriously stiff. Like, incredibly stiff. Most amateurs wouldn’t even dream of using something like that.
- Ball: Bridgestone TOUR B X
- Irons: Srixon
- Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold X7 (Very Stiff!)
It just shows how personalized this stuff is at the highest level. He needs that super stiff setup to handle his swing and get the flight and control he wants. It’s not just grabbing clubs off the rack; it’s a whole tailored system. Anyway, just thought I’d share what I found out after watching him play. Always interesting to see the gear behind the shots.
