Keeping Tabs on Local Talent
So, I started hearing the name Zak Zinter quite a bit around town. You know how it is, when a local kid starts making some noise, people talk. Especially coming out of North Andover, MA, it catches your ear.

I figured, okay, let me see what this is all about. Wasn’t like a formal research project or anything, just casual curiosity. Started paying a bit more attention to the local sports scene, catching bits about his high school career. You see these young guys with potential, and you just kinda start tracking them, mentally at least.
Then he went off to Michigan. That’s big time, right? So, my practice became checking in on how he was doing. Didn’t watch every single game, obviously, but I’d catch highlights, read updates. It’s sort of a passive thing, you know? You see the name pop up, you click, you read a little. You follow the journey.
- Heard about his time at Buckingham Browne & Nichols.
- Then followed the news when he committed to Michigan.
- Kept an eye on his performance there, especially on the offensive line.
It’s interesting, this process. You start with just a name, a local connection. Then you see them progress, face challenges, achieve things. It’s not like I know the guy personally, not at all. But there’s a certain satisfaction, maybe a bit of local pride, in watching someone from your neck of the woods make it happen.
Seeing him get drafted, that was pretty cool. It felt like the culmination of that whole process of just… watching. From hearing whispers in North Andover to seeing him reach the pros. It’s just neat to follow along, simple as that. No complex analysis, just observing a journey from the sidelines.
