Alright, let me tell you about this fanguard skin thing I messed around with recently. I saw it pop up, looked pretty neat, so I figured, why not try and grab it?
Getting Started
First thing, I had to figure out how you even get this skin. It wasn’t just in the store, nope. Turns out, it was tied to completing a whole series of challenges. Typical, right? Always gotta jump through hoops.
So, I pulled up the list. Looked simple enough on paper:
- Win 10 matches using the ‘Guardian’ class.
- Block 50,000 damage total.
- Complete the ‘Iron Citadel’ mission on Hard difficulty.
- Craft three specific shield components.
Seemed doable over a weekend, I thought.
The Actual Grind
Okay, winning 10 matches wasn’t too bad. Took a few hours, had some good teams, some bad ones. Standard stuff. Blocking the damage, though? That took ages. I basically had to just stand there and soak up hits in matches, which didn’t make me popular with teammates, let me tell you. People yelling at me to actually fight back. Had to keep explaining I was working on the skin challenge.
Then came the ‘Iron Citadel’ mission on Hard. Man, that was a pain. The final boss just kept wiping us. Took me like, five or six tries with different groups before we finally nailed it. Lots of frustration there, almost gave up on the whole thing.
Crafting wasn’t hard, just annoying. Had to farm materials for those shield components. Running the same low-level areas over and over, grabbing rocks and bits. Felt like busywork, honestly. Not fun.
Finally Getting It
After all that running around, grinding, and getting yelled at, I finally ticked off the last requirement. The notification popped up: Fanguard Skin Unlocked. Felt good, yeah, but mostly just relieved it was over.
Equipped it right away. Does it look cool? Yeah, it does. It’s got this nice metallic sheen, some cool glowing bits. Was it worth the headache? Ehhh, maybe. It’s just a cosmetic at the end of the day. But hey, I did it. Got the skin. It’s done.
So that was my little adventure with the fanguard skin. A bit more work than I expected, but it’s crossed off the list now.
