My Take on Bivol vs Artur Stuff
So, everyone was hyped about Bivol versus Artur Beterbiev, right? I mean, the light heavyweight fight we’d all been waiting for. I was properly invested, cleared my schedule, the whole nine yards. Had plans, you know? Get some snacks in, maybe have a couple of mates over, really make a night of it.

I started sorting things out early. Checked the broadcast details, made sure the TV setup was good to go. Even started thinking about who I’d invite. You get that buzz, that anticipation building up. It felt like a proper old-school boxing event was on the cards, the kind you talk about for ages after.
Then, bam. News comes through – Beterbiev’s injured. Fight’s off. Postponed. Just like that. All that planning, the looking forward to it, just evaporates. Gutted, honestly. It just throws your whole week off a bit, doesn’t it? You build up to something, and then it’s pulled away.
It reminded me of this thing a few years back. Wasn’t boxing, but similar feeling. We were organizing this big community fair thing. Months of work went into it. Booking stalls, getting permits, advertising, coordinating volunteers – you name it, we did it. We had everything lined up, weather forecast looked decent, everyone was buzzing.
Literally the day before, we get a call. The main field we were using? Suddenly unavailable. Some weird council mix-up, double booking, or something bureaucratic like that. Total chaos. We scrambled, trying to find an alternative venue last minute, calling everyone. It was a nightmare.
- Trying to reschedule dozens of stallholders.
- Informing hundreds of people about the change or potential cancellation.
- Dealing with suppliers demanding payment anyway.
- Just utter panic and stress.
In the end, we had to massively scale it back, move it to a much smaller spot a week later. It wasn’t the same. All that effort, all that vision we had, it just fizzled out because of something totally beyond our control. Cost a fair bit of money too, donations we’d worked hard to get.

It leaves a sour taste, you know? Same feeling with this fight postponement. You understand things happen, injuries are part of sports, council cock-ups happen in life. But it doesn’t stop it being bloody frustrating when you’ve put your own time and energy into anticipating or planning for it. You just gotta sigh, shrug, and wait for the rescheduled date, I suppose. Hopefully, Bivol vs Artur actually happens eventually. And hopefully, no last-minute disasters this time.
