Okay, so November 2023, what did I get up to with my dream journaling? Let me think, it was a bit of a mixed bag, to be honest.

Getting Started (Again!)
I started the month with really good intentions. I’ve tried dream journaling on and off for years, you know? It always sounds so cool, but sticking with it is the hard part. So, at the beginning of November, I got myself a fresh notebook – nothing fancy, just a plain one from the store – and put it on my nightstand with a pen. That’s always my first step: make it super easy to grab.
The First Few Nights
First few nights were a win! I woke up, and even if I only remembered a tiny bit of a dream, I jotted it down. Like, one night all I wrote was “blue car, fast.” Seriously, that was it. But hey, it was something!
Mid-Month Slump
- Then, life got in the way. You know how it is.
- Work got crazy busy.
- I stayed up late a few nights binging a show (no regrets!).
- I just forgot a couple of times, plain and simple.
My dream journal sat there, looking all sad and empty. I felt a little guilty, but not enough to actually, you know, write in it.
Trying Some “Tricks”
Around the middle of the month, I remembered some stuff I’d read about how to remember your dreams better. I’m not going to say these things worked or not.
- One was to tell yourself before you fall asleep that you will remember your dreams.
-
Another was to stay still when you wake up, instead of jumping out of bed, like using your brain or phone.
I gave those a shot. I think the staying-still thing helped a little? Maybe? It’s hard to say for sure.
End of November Push
Towards the end of the month, I had a couple of really vivid dreams. One was super weird, involving a talking cat and a giant pizza… I won’t bore you with the details. But I made sure to write those down, even though it took a few minutes to describe them. It felt good to actually have something substantial in the journal.
What I Learned (Maybe)
So, November 2023 wasn’t a perfect month for dream journaling. But I did it.
- I learned that consistency is key, duh.
- I figured out that even writing down small fragments is better than nothing.
- And maybe, just maybe, those little “tricks” can help a bit.
Will I keep it up in December? We’ll see! I’m not making any promises, but I’m going to try. I’ll let you guys know I did next month.
