Okay, so today I decided to get back on the court and work on my tennis game. I’ve been watching a lot of Lani Chang’s matches lately, and I’m super inspired by her aggressive baseline play. So, I really wanted to try and incorporate some of that into my own game.

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to warm up. I started with some light jogging around the court, then did some dynamic stretches – you know, arm circles, leg swings, torso twists. Nothing fancy, just getting the blood flowing and the muscles loose. I skipped rope for a bit, my muscles need to get activated.
Hitting the Courts
Once I felt warmed up, I grabbed my racket and a bucket of balls. I started by just hitting some easy forehands and backhands, focusing on my form. Making sure I was getting my feet set, rotating my shoulders, and following through. You know, the basics.
- Forehands: I tried to stay low and really drive through the ball, like I’ve seen Lani Chang do.
- Backhands: I focused on keeping my wrist firm and hitting through the ball, not just slapping at it.
Drills, Drills, Drills
After I got a good feel for the ball, I started doing some drills. I mostly worked on:
- Cross-court forehands: Trying to hit with depth and angle.
- Down-the-line backhands: Focusing on accuracy and power.
- Approach shots: Practicing coming to the net after a strong groundstroke.
It was tough! I definitely shanked a few balls, and my legs started to burn after a while. But, I kept pushing myself, trying to channel that Lani Chang energy.
I take a short break and drink some water to keep myself hydrated.

Serving Practice
No practice session is complete without working on serves. I spent some time on:
- Flat serves: Trying to get some good pace and placement.
- Slice serves: Working on getting that nice curve and kick.
My serve is still a work in progress, but I felt like I made some small improvements today.
Cooling Down
Finally, I finished up with some cool-down stretches. It’s important to let your muscles recover, folks! I walked a bit around the court.
Overall, it was a good practice session. I’m not going to be playing like Lani Chang overnight, but I feel like I’m making progress. It’s all about putting in the time and effort, right? Now my arm is a little bit sore. I might need to buy a massage gun.
