Okay, so the other day, I was watching an NBA game with my buddy, and we got into this whole debate about how many fouls it takes before a player gets kicked out. I thought I knew, he thought he knew, but honestly, we were both just guessing. So, I decided to actually figure it out, once and for all.

First, I hit up Google. You know, the usual quick search. I typed in something like “NBA foul out rules” and started scrolling through the results.
I found the official NBA rulebook online. And I start to read it carefully.
My findings
Turns out, it’s pretty straightforward:
- A player is disqualified after committing their sixth personal foul in a regulation NBA game.
It is different from FIBA, so I was very careful when I was reading.
So there you have it. Six personal fouls, and you’re outta there! I shared my new knowledge with my buddy that cleared things up for both of us.
