Okay, so I saw this thing online – Kacy Catanzaro and Ricochet doing this crazy split. I was like, “No way, I gotta try that!” I mean, I’m no gymnast, but I’m pretty active, so I figured, why not give it a shot? I’m documenting it because I want to challenge myself.

First things first, I warmed up. Lots of stretching. I did some arm circles, leg swings, you know, the usual stuff. Then I did some deeper stretches, focusing on my hamstrings and inner thighs. I held each stretch for like, 30 seconds, really trying to loosen up.
Attempt 1: The “Ouch” Phase
- I got down on the floor, one leg forward, one leg back, just like I saw in the pictures.
- Slowly, very slowly, I started to slide my legs apart.
- Yeah, that didn’t go so well. I think I got about halfway down before I felt this sharp pain in my inner thigh. Nope, not happening today.
Attempt 2: The “Slightly Less Ouch” Phase
Okay, so after a little break, and some more stretching (seriously, SO much stretching), I tried again. This time, I put a couple of pillows under my back leg for a little extra support. It felt a little better, but still, no way I was getting anywhere near a full split.
I held this slightly-less-painful position for a few seconds, just trying to get my muscles used to the idea. Then I slowly pulled myself back up. Definitely felt a bit of a burn, but nothing too crazy.
Attempt 3: The “Maybe One Day” Phase
For my third attempt, I decided to try a different approach. Instead of going straight for the full split, I focused on getting my front leg as straight as possible, and then just leaning forward as far as I comfortably could. This felt more like a deep stretch than a split attempt, which was probably a good thing.
- The posture got a bit shaky.
- Hold it still for a bit and relax, then repeat.
The Conclusion (For Now)
So, yeah, I definitely didn’t achieve a Kacy Catanzaro-level split today. Not even close. But, I did learn a few things:

- Splits are hard. Like, really hard.
- Stretching is super important.
- I need to be patient. This is going to take a lot more practice.
- I might be a bit crazy for even trying this.
I’m not giving up, though! I’m going to keep working on my flexibility, and maybe, just maybe, one day I’ll be able to do a full split. For now, I’m just going to stick to regular stretching and maybe some yoga. Wish me luck!
