Okay, so today I decided to dive into the stats from the Boston Celtics vs. Golden State Warriors games. I’ve been watching basketball all my life, and these two teams always put on a show. I wanted to see if I could pull some interesting numbers and maybe learn something new.
First, I needed to find a good source for the data. There are tons of sports websites out there, but I wanted something reliable. I ended up going with a well-known sports site. Gotta start with good data, right?
Once I got to the site, I started hunting for the game stats. It was pretty easy to find the box scores for individual games. They had everything: points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks… you name it. I spent some time just looking at the basic numbers for a few recent games.
Digging Deeper
But then I wanted more. Just looking at individual games is cool, but I wanted to see trends. So, I started pulling data from multiple games. Copying and pasting each number by hand? No way! That would take forever. I made a simple table to put the data in.
After getting all the stats for multiple games, I start to compare the data and made some notes
- Points per Game: I wanted to see which team was scoring more on average.
- Shooting Percentage: Who was more efficient with their shots?
- Rebounds: Which team was dominating the boards?
- Turnovers: I wanted to see the data of who was more careful with the ball.
I spent a good chunk of time looking for patterns. It’s like detective work, but with basketball stats!
The results after comparing the data from all the games was pretty intersting, it was a fun experiment!
