Okay, so, the other day I was messing around in the garage, you know, just doing some weekend warrior stuff. I was trying to get this old, stubborn bolt loose from a piece of equipment. I grabbed my trusty wrench, gave it a good yank, and… BAM! Something flew up and smacked me right in the eye.

It hurt like crazy! My eye instantly started watering, and everything was blurry. I knew right away this wasn’t just a little poke. I’ve had dust and stuff get in my eyes before, but this felt different, more serious.
First Reaction & What I Did:
- Don’t Rub! I’m serious, that my first instinct. It felt like something was in there, but I knew rubbing would only make it worse.
- Flush, Flush, Flush. I stumbled over to the sink and started flushing my eye with cool, clean water. I kept doing it for a good 15-20 minutes, just letting the water run over my open eye. It was super uncomfortable, but I figured it was better than leaving whatever was in there.
- Check the Damage. After the flushing, my vision was still wonky, and my eye was red and irritated. I tried to take a look in the mirror, but honestly, it was hard to see anything clearly. I tried blinking my eye, moving my finger in front, checking different thing, but it’s so blurry and painful.
- Call for Help., I knew I needed a real doctor to look at it. I mean it’s so painful, not like other injury.
I ended up going to the emergency * doctor examined my eye, did some tests, and Luckily, there wasn’t any major damage, like a scratched cornea, but it was still a pretty nasty injury.
I got some eye drops and instructions to keep it clean and rest. I am still recovering, and my vision is getting better day by day, but this was a serious wake-up call. I’m definitely investing in some safety glasses, I should buy the glasses long time ago. It’s just not worth the risk.
So, my big takeaway from this whole ordeal? Always wear eye protection! No matter how small or simple the task seems, it’s just not worth risking your vision. Trust me, you don’t want to go through what I did.
