Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “mihoyo fusion reactor” thing floating around the internet, and, well, I got curious. I mean, who wouldn’t be? The idea of building some kind of miniature power source, even if it’s just a concept from a game, sounded pretty cool. So I decided to dive in and see what I could do.

First, I spent a good chunk of time just trying to understand what the heck this thing was supposed to be. I watched some gameplay videos, looked at fan art, read some forum posts – basically, I immersed myself in the lore. It seemed like a pretty advanced piece of tech, obviously way beyond anything I could actually build.
Then came the planning stage. I realized I needed to scale down my expectations, like, way down. I wasn’t going to be powering a city anytime soon. I started thinking about what I could potentially make, something that looked the part, even if it didn’t actually do anything related to nuclear fusion.
I started gathering materials. Mostly junk, to be honest. I grabbed some old plastic containers, some wire I had lying around, a few broken electronic components, and a whole lot of aluminum foil. My workbench looked like a recycling bin exploded.
- Old plastic containers (various sizes)
- Spare wire (different colors and gauges)
- Broken electronic components (LEDs, resistors, etc.)
- Aluminum foil (lots of it)
- Super glue and hot glue
- Some acrylic paint
The building process was messy, to say the least. I started by cutting and shaping the plastic containers, trying to create some kind of core structure. This involved a lot of trial and error, and some very questionable use of a kitchen knife (don’t tell my wife). Then, I started wrapping things in aluminum foil, because, you know, futuristic. I added the wires and electronic bits, trying to make it look vaguely technical. Hot glue became my best friend.
After a few days of tinkering, I had something that vaguely resembled the in-game fusion reactor. It was… rough. Really rough. But I kind of liked it! It had this charming, homemade quality to it. I even added some LEDs to make it glow, because why not?

I finished it off with some paint. Added layers and layers of gray, plus some weathering effects to make it look old and used. Finally, glued some of those LED lights to make it more like a reactor.
The final product that shows doesn’t actually do anything, of course. It’s just a bunch of junk glued together. But it was a fun project, and it got me thinking creatively. Plus, it looks pretty cool on my shelf. Maybe I’ll try to refine it later, add some more details, maybe even figure out a way to make it light up more realistically. Who knows? For now, I’m calling it a success – a very, very janky, non-functional success.
