Okay, so I’ve been messing around with CS:GO lately, trying to get better at, well, everything. I saw some pro players doing this crazy bunny hopping thing, and it looked super smooth. Turns out, a big part of that is binding jump to your scroll wheel. I figured I’d give it a shot and document how I did it.

First, I opened up CS:GO. Duh.
Finding the Console
Then, I needed to enable the developer console. This is where you type in all the magic commands. I already had it enabled, but if you don’t, it’s pretty easy. Go to the game settings, then “Game Settings,” and there should be an option to “Enable Developer Console (~).” Set that to “Yes.”
The Commands
Next, I hit the tilde key (~).It is usually below the Esc Key. This opened up the console, a little window where you can type in commands. I got my commands ready and typed the following things. I tried different ones, I am sharing the ones that actually worked for me.
- I typed in
bind mwheelup +jump
and pressed Enter. This makes it so when you scroll up on your mouse wheel, your character jumps. - Then, I typed in
bind mwheeldown +jump
and pressed Enter again. This does the same thing, but for scrolling down.
You could choose just one of these, up or down, but I figured I’d try both and see which one felt more natural.
Testing it Out
After That I closed the console and jumped into a custom game just to test it out. I didn’t want to mess up a competitive match while I was figuring this out!

At first, it felt REALLY weird. I was so used to hitting the spacebar to jump. But after a few minutes of messing around, I started to get the hang of it. It definitely makes it easier to spam the jump button, which is key for bunny hopping.
My Results
I’m still not a bunny hopping god or anything, but binding jump to my scroll wheel has definitely made a difference. It feels much smoother, and I can see how this would help with movement in the long run. It’s gonna take some practice to get really good at it, but I’m happy with the results so far!
