Yesterday, I was browsing the web and stumbled upon the name Dontay Corleone. It sounded so cool, so I got this idea to make it my nickname. Seemed simple enough, right? I mean, how hard could it be to just slap a name on your profile?
First, I tried to change my name on some of my social media accounts. I logged into my accounts, headed over to the settings page, and looked for the option to change my display name. On some of them, boom, it was right there. I typed in “Dontay Corleone,” hit save, and that was that. Easy peasy.
But then, things got a bit tricky. On a couple of platforms, they were all like, “You can’t change your name that often,” or “That name doesn’t meet our guidelines.” What’s up with that? I just wanted a cool nickname. So, I had to get a bit creative. I added some numbers, threw in an underscore, and finally, I got it to work. “Dontay_Corleone77” it is then.
- Log in to each social media account.
- Find the settings page.
- Look for the name change option.
- Type in “Dontay Corleone.”
- Save changes.
Next up, I decided to change my email signature. I use Gmail, so I opened up the settings there, scrolled down to the signature section, and changed my name. I even added a little quote beneath it, just to make it look more legit. Felt pretty good about that.
The Email Struggle
Then I thought, what if I want a whole new email address with this name? That was a whole other adventure. I tried to sign up for a new Gmail account, but “dontaycorleone” was already taken. Seriously? Who else is out there rocking this name? Anyway, I tried a few variations, added some numbers and symbols, and finally found one that worked: “*2023”.
After that, I figured I should update my online gaming profiles. I jumped into a few of my favorite games, dug around in the settings, and changed my username there too. Some games were cool with it, others, not so much. But I managed to get it done in most of them.
Lastly, I went through my other online accounts, like forums and stuff, and updated my name where I could. Some places didn’t let me change it at all, which was a bummer, but I guess you can’t win them all.
All in all, it was a fun little project. Now, most of my online presence is under the name Dontay Corleone, or some variation of it. Feels good to have a fresh, cool nickname. And hey, if you see Dontay Corleone out there on the internet, it might just be me.
