Man, you won’t believe the rabbit hole I went down today. I was feeling all nostalgic and started thinking back to that crazy 2013 FGCU basketball team. You know, the “Dunk City” crew? So, I decided to dig up everything I could find about them.
First, I started by watching some old game highlights on my computer. Seriously, those dunks were insane! I spent a good hour just reliving those moments. It’s wild how they became such a big deal overnight. They even got an ESPY for Best Upset! I dug around and found some old news articles.
- Recalled how they went on that crazy 17-0 run against San Diego State.
- Remembered they lost to the Gators, 62-50. But hey, they weren’t really losers in my book.
- Rediscovered that the whole “Dunk City” thing became their identity.
Then I got curious about what happened to those players. Like, where are they now? I spent another couple of hours tracking down information about each of them. It was actually pretty cool to see where life took them after that magical season. Some are still playing ball overseas, some are coaches, and some have totally different careers. It’s a real mix of stories, but it was fun to see how they had grown over the years.
I even found out that the whole 2012-2013 team was inducted into the FGCU Athletics Hall of Fame. I watched the event’s video. They had a ceremony and everything at the Cohen Student Center. That must have been a cool moment for them, coming back to campus and being celebrated like that. Seriously. It must have been a big moment for them. It must be a big moment for them to get back to campus.
Dunk City Is More Than Just A Nickname
So yeah, that was my day. Diving deep into the 2013 FGCU basketball team. It was a fun trip down memory lane, and it reminded me how much I loved that team’s energy and passion. That’s all I want to share today. Hope you enjoyed it.
